Youlgreave

URPoint Details

Youlgreave was mentioned in the Domesday Book as belonging to Henry de Ferrers and being worth sixteen shillings

An ancient hilltop village set in some of Derbyshire’s best limestone scenery on the edge of Bradford Dale.

The Old Hall built in 1650 has a Cotswold look about it and the parish church has fine Norman work and a tower with eight pinnacles.

The name comes from the Saxon meaning ‘yellow grove’

Three long-distance paths, the Alternative Pennine Way, the Limestone Way and the White Peak Way, pass through the village, swelling the numbers of walkers.
