Wymondham (Leicestershire) - Church of St Peter
Nurses Lane, Wymondham LE14 2AS, England
URPoint Details
The church of St Peter's stands back from the main street amid the little lanes on the south side is easily located by the solid 13th century tower in brown ironstone. Its recessed spire and other later additions to the tower are of pale limestone. Much of the chancel is also 13th century, although it looks more recent because of the perpendicular windows inserted into the walls. The interior is light and spacious and the east end has a splendid window with Victorian glass. A fine feature of the nave is its unusual arcade and some of the capitals have charming decoration. There is also an unusual stone altar.
