Wroth Silver Ceremony - Ryton on Dunsmore

To the southeast of the village is Knightlow Hill, where, in a field off the Daventry road, is the 14th century ‘Wroth Silver’ stone.

Here payment to the Lord of the Manor is made by the 25 parishes in the Knightlow Hundred.
The amounts paid range from ½p to 21p and total 47p. After the ceremony the villagers have breakfast at the duke’s expense in the nearby Dun Cow Inn.
