URPoint Details
A lovely little village with thatched cottages, the Norman Church has a gallery and an 18th century pulpit.
Orchard Cottage now a delightful B&B has a gruesome tale to tell about a young woman who poisoned her father, her baby and her husband. But it was only when the pig died that the village folk realised that all had been poisoned. At the age of 24, Sarah Daisley was the last woman to hanged outside Bedford Gaol.
The village nestles at the edge of the Bedfordshire just over the border from Cambridgeshire.
Although the neighbouring village of Eyeworth is described fully in the Domesday Book, Wrestlingworth is shown only in the walled up Saxon door in St Peter’s church and the discovery of Roman armour under Battle Bridge.
