No admission charge, donations welcome. The tower is open occasionally during the summer months.
This cathedral with its 200 foot Tower stands majestically beside the River Severn. The crypt dating from 1084 is a classic example of Norman architecture. The 12th century Chapter House and Cloisters are a reminder of the monastic past. King John (Magna Carta) and Prince Arthur (elder brother of Henry VIII) are buried near the High Altar.
Gift shop, tea room and the Cathedral Choir can be heard in school term at Evensong 5.30pm weekdays (not Thursday) and 4pm Sunday. Also 11am Sunday (Sung Eucharist).
