An attractive village with a graceful 17th century hall which was the childhood home of Mrs Fitzherbert whom the Prince Regent, later George IV loved and with whom he illegally contracted a secret marriage in 1785.
The fine village church features of almost every style of English architecture from Anglo-Danish to the late Middle Ages. Parts of the crossing tower are the most ancient but there are examples of Norman, early English, Decorated and Perpendicular styles as well as features from the 17th, 18th and 19th centuries.
