Hamlet on the river Orwell has been here since the Bronze Age, where legend has it that a Viking marauder by the name of Wulf sacrificed a maiden on a huge stone giving the village its name.
William Berners built the Hall in 1776.
Woolverstone House School, once known as St Peter's Home, for fallen women was run by an order of nuns and built by Sir Edwin Lutyens.
