Picnics welcome in car park only; dogs on leads in car park only. Disabled car park is at foot of slope up to house, but closer parking can be arranged, and disabled passengers can be set down nearer house. House has limited access to ground floor rooms only; album of photographs of upper rooms available. Garden is accessible, but on slope.
This small 17th century farmhouse was the birthplace and family home of Sir Isaac Newton. Some of his major work was formulated here, during the Plague years (1665-66). An early edition of his Principia Mathemathica, (published 1687), is on display. The orchard includes a descendant of the famous apple tree.
