Close to Windsor Forest has been for centuries a pleasant market town built mainly on the silk trade that flourished here in the 17th century and there are many fine houses including the 17th century Manor House.
In Rose Street are some charming half-timbered buildings with over-hanging gables.
The church of All Saints has been restored, but five bays with carved capitals in the nave are medieval and the font is Perpendicular.
