URPoint Details
A heathland parish in the south-east of the district, Wokefield has no village and is almost wholly taken up by Wokefield Common, with its numerous attractive walks, and Wokefield Park whose great house dates from the l8th century. It stands on the site of a manor created during the reign of Edward the Confessor. The house is now a school and its chapel provides Roman Catholic services for the local people.
