The Church of St Mary has an interesting south doorway to the nave and is richly decorated with Norman carving and the two shafts have different patterns, alternate spirals on the left and horizontal zigzags on the right.
The nave arch also has fine carving, with three recessions, two which are patterned.
The famous series of wall paintings are 13th century.
On the south wall of the nave are representations which include the Magi asleep in bed, the presentation in the temple and the Nativity and on one wall women gossiping encouraged by devils and St Francis preaching to the birds.
