The village has associations with the poet Hazlitt, who lived here, and also at the nearby Winterslow Hut or ‘Pheasant Inn to the north on the main Salisbury road.
To the northwest are Figsbury Rings (NT), an early Iron Age encampment of 27 acres with views towards Salisbury.
