URPoint Details
The town, with its central streets and many Georgian houses and shops, centre round the church and Winslow Hall.
The latter, a most beautiful house, was designed in 1702 by Sir Christopher Wren.
There are several 18th century houses of note.
The church, set in a very pleasant churchyard, is mostly of the 14th century. The pulpit is Jacobean and of interest is the series of wall paintings which include one of St. Christopher and another of the murder of Thomas Becket, both of the 15th century.
The little Baptist chapel, dated 1695 and with Georgian furnishings is a reminder that the 17th century preacher, Benjamin Keach, was a resident of Winslow.
