William Wordsworth was born in Wordsworth House, Cockermouth on 7 April 1770 and lived there till 1778. He became Poet Laureate, in 1843.
He died 23 April 1850 (aged 80), by a persistent case of pleurisy and is buried at St Oswald’s Church in Grasmere.
