URPoint Details
A quiet royal burgh overlooking salt marshes and sands of Wigtown Bay, and in the centre are two crosses one dates from 1748 and the other from 1816 which celebrates the victory of Waterloo.
There is sea-fishing in the bay for skate, conger eels and many other types and the area is popular with birdlife including greylag, pinkfoot geese, ducks and warders.
There are many historic places of interest to visit including the Bronze Age Torhouse Stone Circle of 19 stones forming a ring some 60ft across.
