Most of the cottages in Wickmere are constructed of Norfolk flint and brick and some are as old as 300 years old.
A tiny hamlet with close links to the Walpole family, descendants of Sir Robert Walpole, the first Prime Minister of England. Si Robert’s younger brother Horatio built Wolterton Hall in 1741. The gardens overlook a beautiful lake, and there are ruins of an old church in the grounds showing where the village used to be the last baptism was in 1740.
