A straggling village on the upper reaches of the river Deben.
14th century All Saint's church has an octagonal tower surmounted by a tall leaded spire rising about 140ft.
At Boulge 2½ miles south-west, Edward FitzGerald the translator of The Rubiat of Omar Khayyam" is buried. On his grave is a rose bush from Omar Khayyam's grave in Iran.
