Whitstable

Whitstable , England

URPoint Details

Since Roman times, Whitstable has been known for its oysters, and nowhere better to enjoy them is watching the sunset over the Isle of Sheppey.

The harbour was rebuilt in 1832 and is a fascinating warren of old inns, shipyards and sail lofts.

The railway from Whitstable to Canterbury was the first passenger line to be opened and Stephenson's ‘Invicta', pulled a train here in 1830.
