After World War I, a local landowner planted trees to give the effect of the nave, transepts, cloisters and chancels of a large open-air cathedral. The Tree Cathedral was established on the floor plan of Liverpool Cathedral in memory of friends of Leonard Carlton lost during 1914-1918 war. Services are still held in the summer.
