The old limestone village set round the green still retains its olde world charm.
In times past local farms employed many of the men, while others walked to Dunstable. Women did straw plaiting for the hat trade. They also collected herbs, hips, elderberries, and blackberries which were sold to the pharmacists for a few pence.
