Wetheral Church of the Holy Trinity and St Constantine. St Constantine was said to be a Scottish king who relinquished his throne to become a monk. Legend has it that he lived as a hermit in a cave at Wetheral. The 16th century church is Gothic in style but has many later additions including octagonal tower and some interesting effigies. A large and important monument is the one to a Mrs Howard of Corby, by Joseph Nollekens and shows a young woman holding a baby, supported by Religion who points towards Heaven.
