The village was originally names ‘Weston’ and became ' Westoning’ after the manor had been bought by Sir William Inge, Chief Justice of the Kings Bench during the reign of Edward II in 1317.

It is a lovely little village with narrow streets and quaint little houses, and clock tower built in 1897.

‘The Chequers’ is a delightful 18th century thatched pub and has a large car park and 'The Bell' also a 18th century brick building and worth a visit.

The lovely church of St Mary Magdalene was built in the 14th century and during the Reformation its stained glass windows were broken and statues removed. One statue of St.Catherine was found inside the wall of a local farmhouse some years ago and is now in the Cecil Higgins Museum in Bedford.
