Weston under Penyard

URPoint Details

The village has been inhabited since Roman times when it was called Ariconium, founded as a garrison town.

Only a few fragments remain old the castle, and it is believed that some of the stone was used for The Rectory and in Bollitree Castle, a 17th century house north of the village.

The Church of St Lawrence has four fine Norman arches and a 14th century bell tower
