A fine Palladian house fashioned in the mid-18th century by Sir Francis Dashwood with frescos and painted ceilings.
The landscaped garden and lake were laid out at the same time as the house, and inside the chalk hill overlooking the village of West Wycombe are the caves, which are privately owned.
46 acre 18th century landscape garden, largely created by the second Sir Francis Dashwood in the 1730s inspired by his grand tours to the continent. The house and garden are sited in a valley with a dammed river forming a lake and cascade. The garden has a series of classical temples and follies, some of which were designed by Nicholas Revett including a cottage disguised as a church.
