West Wycombe - Church of St Lawrence, (HE)

The Church of St Lawrence has a medieval core but has been Georgianised. Stucco garlands run between the nave columns, whose elaborate Corinthian columns rise to a frieze and painted ceiling and gracefully decorated chancel ceiling. Some of the furnishings are reflective of the imagination and irreverence of members of the 18th century Hell-Fire Club, who met in the golden ball on top of the tower and dedicated themselves to dissipation. The bizarre Dashwood mausoleum outside is eye catching.
