URPoint Details
Five villages of Culford, Ingham, Timworth, West Stow and Wordwell form part of the Culford estate. All the villages were mentioned in the Domesday Book and two villages that of West Stow and Ingham are much older. The Anglo-Saxons were also here and farming thrived between 420 and 650AD.
The church of St Bartholmew in Ingham was restored in 1861. The church of St Andrew in Timworth was restored in 1868 and the south porch which is part of the tower, dates from the 14th century.
St Mary’s church in West Stow has also been restored and there is evidence of Norman work.
The church of All Saints in Wordwell is the smallest of the six churches, about 30ft long. It has two Norman doorways with interesting carvings in the arches above them.
