West Park consists of over 400 acres of gently undulating landscape designated as being of 'Outstanding Natural Beauty'.  The ancient park contains 14 spring fed lakes and some of the oldest oak trees in the Country. It was originally created by Lord Southampton in 1820, by clearing part of the Royal Whittlewood Hunting forest to form a Deer Park. The golf course was built on the Estate at the turn of the century, which was run as a private club until the advent of World war I. From June 1992 the park once again enjoyed golfers for the first time in 80 years. The 27 tournament standard holes have been constructed as three inter-changeable loops of nine, to form several par 72 combinations courses of over 6700 yards, each having its own distinctive character and challenge to players of all standards. Construction of all the courses has been carried out to the highest standard. The greens and tees have been built from top quality sand and peat and sown with the finest Bent Fescue grasses.
