A twin to East Malling, this village has a fine wide street with a market and some lovely 18th century houses.
The inn 'The Startled Saint' has a sign showing St Leonard with Spitfires circling within his halo representing the airfield nearby.
Ford House in the High Street is over 600 years old and The Swan Hotel is substantially Tudor, it was a prominent coaching inn and favoured by Dr Johnson on his visits to the district.
The parish church has a massive Norman tower, and an Early English chancel with triple lancet east window and the nave was rebuilt early in the 19th century.
