On the coast between Largs and Ardrossan make this a very well known Clyde resort.
Seamill has a sandy beach and West Kilbride is its country cousin.
There are some interesting old castles and the Cup and Ring Stones is worth a visit.
To the northwest is Farland Head, with the ruins of Portencross Castle overlooking the twin islands of Cumbrae.
