URPoint Details
The approach is lined with houses that open onto the road and some lovely little shops including an antique shop.
The beach a mile from the quay can be reached by road, miniature railway or by walking along the embankment. Pine woods, sand dunes and a boating lake make a pleasant approach to the beach. Sailing, sailboarding and water ski-ing are very popular here as is bird watching and walking.
In the centre of the town is The Buttlands a spacious rectangle village green surrounded by beautiful trees and Georgian houses.
At the south west corner a narrow passage takes you to Ware Hall House a timber-framed building which was dismantled and moved from Ware in Hertfordshire.
Across the quay at the southern end of the embankment leading to the beach is the Jubilee Cafe which was the original lifeboat house built in 1869.
The Victorian church of St Nicholas was rebuilt in 1880.
