A loop in the meandering River Avon and from the north a narrow stone bridge crosses the river to meet the long main street off which lies the village green with its chestnut tree and tall, red, white and blue maypole.
Thatched, timber framed cottages and houses stand in colourful gardens near the 14th century church.
