A village on the Water of Leith a few miles from the heart of the city, where many of the old houses have been restored and downstream is the Dean Bridge designed by Thomas Telford in 1832, soars 100ft above.
The Water of Leith is the main river flowing through Edinburgh, to the port of Leith where it flows into the sea via the Firth of Forth. It is 35 km long and rises in the Colzium Springs at Millstone Rig of the Pentland Hills.
Nearby is the Grecian-temple style of St Barnards Well built over a mineral spring where in the 18th century fashionable citizens took the waters.
