The 14th century Warwick Castle rises above the city and is certainly one of the most impressive castles in England.
There some historic medieval buildings including the Lord Leycester Hospital dating from the 12th to 16th centuries, West Gate is part of the original medieval wall and above it is the hospital chapel founded in 1123 and rebuilt in 1383 and again in 1863.
At the other end of the High Street is the East Gate dating from the 15th century and on top of it is St Peter’s Chapel also 15th century but later rebuilt and restored.
