Warminghurst - Church of the Holy Sepulchre

Up a narrow lane and on a walled bank with fine views to the south, the Church of the Holy Sepulchre, (Churches Conservation Trust) is one of the delights of Sussex. A simple mainly 13th century sandstone building, its 18th century interior is magical. A triple-arched screen, under a typanium carrying a splendid Royal Arms robed in crimson drapery, separates nave from chancel, a complete set of box pews, and a clerk’s pew and pulpit fill the nave. There are monuments from the 18th century and earlier and the natural wood furnishings and uneven floor make this an unforgettable little church.
