URPoint Details
Waltham is an attractive limestone village with many traditional 18th and 19th century rural buildings set close to the church.
Once a small market town, annual horse and cattle fairs were held here until 1921.
Some lovely places to eat and drink are The Royal Horseshoes and The Marquis of Granby.
The Church of St Mary Magdalene is a large cruciform building with central tower which was heightened several times during the medieval period. The name was extended one bay west in 1850. The re-arrangement and refitting of the church dates from this period and is a good example of mid-nineteenth century church taste.
