URPoint Details
Founded in 1908, quiet flows the River Dee past five of Llnagollen's holes, imposing a threatening presence on three of them but it's well worth the watery inconvenience for the pleasure of being in such a beautiful vale.
It is at the 425 yards ninth, aptly called the River Hole, that the Dee plays its most menacing role running down the right-hand side of the fairway. With a sharp dog-left you have to hit a long and accurate drive perilously close to the riverbank to have any chance of reaching with your second.
This long established 18 hole, 6673 yards, par 72 course is close to the quaint town, famous for its international Musical Eisteddfod held every July. There is a splendid variety of trees and the closeness of the river ensures that the course remains lush and green all year.
In addition to golf, there are parts of the vale that can only be seen from the course.
