Upton is a charming town with old fashioned shops, old inns and streets where it is a joy to stand and look.
The sign for the Bell Inn in New Street is a real bell complete with tongue, and it was the White Lion in the High Street that the hero of the novel ‘Tom Jones’ got up to mischief.
Looking out over the meadows of the River Severn, the old church, crowned with an 8-sided cupola, is the sole remnant of the original parish church.
