URPoint Details
A small fishing port in Ross and Cromarty founded in the late 18th century, and supposedly the only place in Britain to have a public convenience with a thatched turf roof. Its wide streets are named in Gaelic and English.
A passenger ferry links Ullapool with Aultnaharrie (Allt na h'Airbhe) on the opposite shore of Loch Broom and dominated by Ben Goleach rising to 2,052ft on the opposite shore.
In the outer loch, 12 miles northwest are the Summer Isles which are attractive as their name.
Beyond Loch Broom to the southeast is the green valley of Strath More above which rise the lofty peaks of the Ben Dearg group.
Northwest a rugged and picturesque stretch of road crosses the shores of Loch Kanaird with Isle Martin lying offshore.
