URPoint Details
A village on Trotternish, the largest Skye peninsula and the ferry port for Harris and Unst in the Outer Hebrides.
1½ miles north is where Flora MacDonald brought Bonnie Prince Charlie disguised as her maid after their journey ‘over the sea to Skye’ from the Isle of Bencula.
In Kilmuir churchyard Flora MacDonald is buried, wrapped in a sheet used by the Prince. A Celtic cross marks her grave.
