The church stands well to the northeast, isolated except for the Hall and a farmhouse. Part of the church is 13th century but an earlier church at Bollington, belonging to King Harold was erected when in ruins as a chapel on the south side of St Peter’s. The church was enlarged with a west tower in the 16th century and rebuilt with additions in the 19th century. Grade II* listed building
