A car park on nearby Winshields Crag is right on the line of the wall where you can explore a 3 mile stretch of desolate and rugged country leading east to Housesteads. Nearby, for those with time, is a youth hostel that sometimes offers to barter archaeological work on the Wall for accommodation. One of life's great opportunities.
