Open Good Friday to end September, weekdays 10am-5.30pm (closed Thursdays). Saturday 2-6pm & Sunday 10am-6pm. Admission charge.

Picturesque ruined castle, steeped in history - Mary Queen of Scots was imprisoned here. The ruins of a once-imposing castle include three towers, one built by John of Gaunt in the 14^th century, a south tower with a winding staircase and two chambers and the high tower in which Mary, Queen of Scots was imprisoned during 1568 and 1569.
