TROUTBECK (Place on the trout stream)
Spread along the side of a wild and beautiful valley of the same name, it is dominated by the lofty Kirkstone Pass to the north.
Farms and houses cluster around the 17th century pub The Mortal Man.
The village church lies down in the valley and has a superb east window dated 1873 by Edward Burne-Jones, William Morris and Ford Madox-Brown.
