URPoint Details
The twin villages of Trimley St Mary and Trimley St Peter have two churches in one churchyard reputedly built by two feuding sisters.
Thomas Cavendish was born in Grimston Hall in 1560, and was the second man to have circumnavigated the world in 1592. The village sign depicts both him and an inscription bearing the words ‘My God, said Thomas Cavendish, whatever may befall, I'll love dear Trimley and the oaks of Grimston Hall’!
The ‘Mariners Inn’ in St Mary's has a painting outside showing Cavendish's three ships.
