URPoint Details

The Haven comprises a series of wetland habitats which have become increasing rare in Britain. The extensive reed-beds provide nesting sites in the summer for Reed Warblers (over 100 pairs), Reed Buntings, Water Rails, and Hampshire's only regular colony of Bearded Tits. One of the most important birds found on the reserves is the Cetti's Warbler. From late October to March, particularly when flooded there are over 2000 Wigeon, 1000 Black-tailed Godwits, 200 Snipe and smaller numbers of Ruff, Curlew, Teal and Shoveler.
