Victorian carving on the timbers supporting the belfry reflects the doorway motifs. The unusual continues in the 13th century apse of five side of an octagon, with an impressive central boss of foliage. Most interesting is the weathervane in the form of a gridiron commemorating St Laurence's fiendish martyrdom on a cooking instrument.
