Recorded in the Domesday Book as Torinduna, the village has some great 16th century houses including Thorrington Hall is Elizabethan, and the 'The Rose' is a lovely inn painted in Suffolk pink.
The church of St Mary Magdalene stands down a lane away from the main village. The building dates from the 14th century and its most prominent feature is the fine East Anglian type knapped flint and embattled west tower, built around 1480.
A fine ring of six bells are still heard every Sunday by a splendid band of bell ringers.
