The Lowland Hills dominated by Queensberry rising to 2,285ft to the east overlook the beautiful Nith Valley.
To the south and off the Dumfries road and near the river is Dalgarnock churchyard with a Cross commemorating 57 Nithsdale Covenanters killed in various parts of the country.
