Thomas Moore, born in Dublin on 28 May, 1779.
A poet, composer and musician, whe wrote ten volumes of Irish Melodies from 1807-1834. ‘The Minstrel Boy’, ‘My Gentle Harp’, ‘Pretty Maid Milking a Cow’, ‘Canadian Boat Song’, ‘The Daughters of Erin’ are just some of the wonderful music he wrote, but probably the most famous is ‘The Last Rose of Summer’.
He died on 25 February, 1852.
