Thomas Chippendale born 16 June 1718 was a London cabinet-maker and furniture designer in the mid-Georgian styles.
In 1754 he published a book of his designs, titled The Gentleman and Cabinet Maker's Director. He was one of the three best furniture designers of the ear along with Sheraton and Hepplewhite.
In 1779 Chippendale moved to Hoxton where he died of tuberculosis and was buried a St Martin-in-the-Fields in London on 13 November 1779.
